Job brief
We are currently looking for a Technical Support / Intermediate Industrial Engineer to join our client, a growing packaging company in the GTA. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of their equipment, optimizing product quality, and contributing to the implementation of new procedures for continuous improvement.
Requirements and skills
- Keen understanding of how to write and test robust, safety-critical, efficient code.
- Ability to develop and evaluate integrated systems.
- Outstanding communication skills
- Bachelor of Engineering; automation, robotics, or related discipline
- PEng Designation or on the path to a PEng.
Objectives of this role
- Apply Industrial Engineering principles to automate processes.
- Implement enhancements such as production lines and sub-systems.
- Analyze data from IoT devices and advanced systems to increase stability and performance.
- Collaborate in cross-functional teams to align industrial engineering solutions with software enhancements.
- Support existing systems by implementing a structured change control process.
- Work within project timelines and constraints, communicating risks and potential problems to managers as soon as they arise.
Job Responsibilities
Excellent knowledge of Enterprise and design (Firm Level – ISA Level 4), Operations Management (Factory Level – ISA Level 3), Control and supervision (Line level – ISA Level 2), and Field (Machine level – ISA Level 1) systems.
- Perform integration tests and quality control.
- Monitor the use of robotic systems and optimize their functionality.
- Troubleshoot and correct defects in the robot design using Engineering principles.
- Support the design of various vendor systems.
a) Evaluate Machine Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and throughput for each Stock Keeping Unit (SKU).
b) Participate in production Quality Control (QC) along with the root cause of QC analysis.
c) Participate in machine improvement initiatives.
5. Reviewing engineering design documentation to identify and address areas of improvement.
1. Procedural Management Processes
a) Support the development of the proposal of Customer Technical Requirements document (CTR)
b) Support the development of the Systems Specification document (SS)
c) Support the development of the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)
d) Assist in creating Operational and Maintenance for Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
e) Assist in creating Change Management Procedures (CMP)
f) Assist in developing Customer Site Acceptance Test documentation (SAT)
g) Recommendations for Plans and Procedures for future systems.
6. Research the industry and keep abreast of advancements in robotics and relevant fields.
a) Analyzing technology trends for the following:
b) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
c) Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
d) Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
e) Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
f) Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Interpret technical standards and develop corrective measures for facilities.
2. Monitor and optimize product quality, ensuring adherence to established standards.
3. Monitor equipment reliability, adjusting to meet operating targets.
4. Provide daily technical support, promptly identifying and resolving equipment issues.
5. Support improvement requests, actively contributing to process enhancements.
6. Share expertise to enhance the team's technical capabilities.
7. Maintain current documentation on critical equipment.
