Performs a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work and operates various equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of city parks, water and wastewater facilities, streets, and storm drain facilities.
Experience Required: None.
Minimum Education Requirements: Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent.
Direct Supervisor: Parks Crew leader.
Supervisory Responsibility: None.
Primary Work Location: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and wet and/or humid conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, or in high, precarious places and is occasionally at risk of electrical shock, exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Assist in locating water and wastewater lines prior to excavation.
Respond to complaints regarding water leaks, low water pressure, water quality issues, and / or no water.
Respond to complaints regarding wastewater backups, stoppages, and / or overflows.
Make contact with residents and business owners, as directed, in areas where water / wastewater services may be interrupted; provide an explanation and estimated time frame when services may be restored.
Assist with maintaining equipment and tools in proper working order, perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment as directed.
Perform required labor, as part of a crew, involved in the construction and maintenance of streets, wastewater collection lines, water distribution lines, water meters, manholes, valves, and fire hydrants.
Perform checks on water booster stations, elevated water storage, sewer lift stations, and other related pumps as directed.
Operate a variety of power tools and equipment used in the water, wastewater, parks, and street departments.
Mow grass, trims hedges and cut weeds as directed.
Repair and install street signage.
Remove, replace and read water meters as directed.
Pick up trash and litter as directed
Respond to work orders for all public works service requests, as assigned
Report equipment and tool defects to supervisor.
Respond to after-hour emergency repair call-outs.
May be required to be on stand-by.
Serve as a member of various employee committees as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Must be able to read and write the English language.
Must be able to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Must be capable of driving a motor vehicle to travel to other locations on a frequent basis.
Must be available 24 hours for emergency call outs on a rotating schedule.
Certifications: Possession of a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
