What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $140,000. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.
In this position you can expect to work on site at The Denver Post building or at field locations 3 days per week based on operational needs.
What You’ll Do
The Assistant Director of Parks Planning will assist in leading the strategic direction of planning initiatives and leading a team of parks planning professionals to ensure successful implementation of that vision.
Job Responsibilities:
Mentor a high functioning team of planners; advise and coach team while providing strategic direction
Manage and review design documents for innovation, quality and budgetary compliance
Lead efforts beyond the day to day work of the Division; establish and guide the long range planning vision
Identifies needs for Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects based on community input and lead the CIP process
Ensure the team has strategic work plans that are up to date
Ensure strong implementation of the department's long range master plan: The Game Plan
Strengthen community, internal and external engagement by building lasting partnerships
Manage operational efficiency of project management and landscape architecture efforts
Embrace Denver's cultural diversity as an asset, enabling social, economic and physical mobility for all

We are looking for an experienced and well-rounded Planning professional who can implement a strong visionary approach to Denver's Parks Planning initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a resourceful problem solver, a proactive and strategic decision-maker, and an adept team-builder. A decisive yet collaborative and inclusive management style will be critical towards facilitating initiatives and projects.
The ideal candidate will also possess a demonstrable and tactful ability in developing and maintaining productive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Moreover, we are looking for a Planning professional who is enthusiastic about making a meaningful impact in the City and County of Denver and securing its development as a world-class city.
Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
At least 5 years of management experience
Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban or City and Regional Planning, Park Administration preferred but not required
Planning experience within a public-sector organization; parks and recreation experience preferred
Experience working with historically underserved communities
Planning experience in rapidly growing urban and sub-urban communities
Experience successfully implementing medium to long-range planning initiatives
Bilingual skills
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in City or Regional Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Public Administration, or a related field
Experience Requirement: Eight (8) years of professional planning experience which must include three (3) years of experience supervising professional planners
Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education
