Business Analyst Job Summary
Our client has a full-time opportunity for an experienced Business Analyst (BA) to work directly on client engagements. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in defining future state requirements and implementing a software system for inventory management and supply demand management of materials used in the energy sector. This role will be instrumental in driving the requirements gathering and selection process for a software package that aligns with the future state process and lean six sigma principles.
As a Business Analyst, you will work in a collaborative environment within project teams where you will track, manage, and report upon scope, schedule, and budget for client requirement gathering and software implementation. This BA role will require frequent and clear communication to establish productive and balanced relationships with customer stakeholders and sponsors.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Requirements Gathering and Analysis
- Collaborate with lean six sigma experts to define the future state process for inventory management and supply demand management.
- Conduct comprehensive requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and end-users to capture functional and non-functional requirements.
- Analyze and document business processes, workflows, and data flows related to inventory management and supply demand management.
- Prioritize requirements based on business impact, complexity, and alignment with lean six sigma principles.
2.Software Selection and Implementation
- Work closely with the project manager and implementation manager to evaluate and select a software package that meets the defined requirements.
- Participate in vendor demonstrations, proof-of-concept evaluations, and contract negotiations.
- Serve as the liaison between the business and technical teams during the software implementation phase.
- Ensure that the implemented software solution aligns with the future state process and lean six sigma principles.
3.Process Improvement and Optimization
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization within the inventory management and supply demand management processes.
- Collaborate with lean six sigma experts to implement process improvements and streamline operations.
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions for end-users and stakeholders on the new software system and optimized processes.
4.Documentation and Communication
- Document requirements, business processes, and system specifications in a clear and concise manner.
- Develop user manuals, training materials, and other documentation as needed to support the software implementation and adoption.
- Effectively communicate with stakeholders, project teams, and end-users to ensure alignment and manage expectations.
Business Analyst Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in the energy or utility sector.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with inventory management, supply chain, and materials management processes.
- Scrum, Agile or CBAP™ certification preferred
- Strong understanding of lean six sigma principles, methodologies, and process improvement techniques.
- Proven experience in requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation for software systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Project management experience and familiarity with Agile methodologies is a plus.
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements in the energy sector.
- Consulting experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with software vendors or teams to customize and configure software based on requirements
- Must have the capability to document functional and non-functional requirements to meet project KPIs and success criteria
- Ability to lead design sessions and workshops with clients to capture functional requirements
- Proficiency with project management tools and requirements software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Visio, Jira, etc).
