Summary:
The shift lead acts as a support role to the Humanitarian Relief Shift Supervisor(s) and oversees the lead coordinators, contractors, and ensures safety, efficiency, and services are being delivered in accordance with the agency’s operational and logistical response to humanitarian crises and services to migrants. Shift Lead must have the ability to effectively oversee and coordinate the delivery of emergency response and humanitarian relief services, such as emergency shelter, food, clothing, transportation, intake, and volunteer/donation management, schedules for team members and be able to oversee different operations. They will be required to work non-traditional hours, be on call 24/7, work at remote/off-site locations, and coordinate with other emergency response/humanitarian relief entities. Bilingual in English and Spanish is required. The Shift Supervisor must have reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
Position Responsibilities:
- Serve as a support role to the Humanitarian Relief Shift Supervisor(s) and as the emergency/humanitarian response point of contact for Catholic Charities as well as liaison between Catholic Charities, and other emergency/humanitarian response agencies, coalitions, and stakeholders
- Serves as the acting temporary Shift Supervisor in lieu of the Shift Supervisor(s), or Director, or Senior Director when not on site
- Supports the Shift Supervisor(s), Director, or Senior Director as required.
- Overseeing staff when the Shift Supervisor(s), Director, or Senior Director is not on site
- Supervise preparedness activities related to emergency response, including donations management, creating a stockpile of emergency response kits, and building capacity to deliver humanitarian aid
- Coordinate response efforts to populations affected by humanitarian crises, such as migrant releases, human trafficking, smuggling, family reunifications, natural disasters, displacement, and homelessness.
- Provide regular situational updates to agency leadership during an emergency/humanitarian response
- Adhere to and administer personnel policies and procedures for staff consistent with those of Catholic Charities.
- Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
- Manage staff hours, schedules and rotations for their shifts.

- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director, Vice President of Programs, & CEO/President.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
o Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred
o 2 or more years of experience in a human services, public health, or emergency response setting preferred
o Reliable transportation
o Valid driver license and clean driving record
o Valid vehicle insurance
o Bilingual in English/Spanish
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in human services, public health, or emergency response setting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs
- Must be flexible, self-directed, and goal oriented
- Knowledge and experience working in a social service setting strongly preferred
- Experience working with diverse populations including immigrants from different countries of origin
- Ability to work in culturally sensitive manner with diverse populations
- Knowledge of HIPPA and confidentiality standards
- Knowledge of operational procedures of Community Centers or other comparable facilities preferred
- Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team.
- Must have good written and verbal skills.
- Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills in crisis situations
- Ability to work non-traditional hours and be on call 24/7
- Experience working with and managing volunteers
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Experience and ability to drive large vehicles and response units
Travel Requirements:
Travel requirements for the position includes 40% local and 5% overnight.
