ValidaTek is seeking a highly qualified Platform/Automation Engineer to support the Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs Queue Management (CAQM) lobby line management and customer experience program. The CAQM program provides software, hardware and capabilities that improve the customer waiting and service fulfillment experience at the bureau’s domestic Passport Agencies and Overseas Posts. These locations provide Passport, Visa and Overseas Citizen services for U.S. citizens and foreign nationals.
The Platform/Automation Engineer will play a critical role in driving efficiency, productivity, and innovation through the automation of processes and systems. As the Platform/Automation Engineer, you will build upon and integrate with third-party tools and services to provide the Development Team with an automated deployment process. You will be responsible for building and maintaining the development CI/CD pipeline as well as working with external stakeholders to integrate into the enterprise’s production deployment pipeline and process. The Platform/Automation engineer must be able to provide troubleshooting support.
Responsibilities:
- Design, architect, and implement automation solutions for infrastructure and platform management to optimize operational efficiency, scalability, and reliability.

Develop automation scripts, templates, and workflows to provision, configure, and manage infrastructure resources including servers, storage, networking, and virtualization platforms.

Orchestrate the deployment, scaling, and lifecycle management of containerized applications and microservices across hybrid cloud environments using orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, or Red Hat OpenShift.

Implement and manage configuration management practices using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to enforce consistency, compliance, and security across infrastructure and platform components.

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the integration, testing, and deployment of software applications and services across development, testing, and production environments.

Implement infrastructure provisioning and management practices using IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) to define, version, and automate infrastructure configurations.

Implement security controls, policies, and compliance frameworks using automation tools and techniques to ensure the security and regulatory compliance of infrastructure and platform environments.

Document automation workflows, configurations, and best practices, and providing training and support to internal teams on automation tooling, processes, and methodologies.

Participate in scrum ceremonies.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of automation experience

BA/BS or equivalent years of experience working in a technical position.

Proven experience working as a DevOps Engineer, Automation Engineer, Platform Engineer, or similar role with a focus on infrastructure and platform automation.

Strong proficiency in automation and platform tools and frameworks such as Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, or similar technologies.

Experience with programming or scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and customization tasks.

Solid understanding of cloud computing concepts and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid cloud architectures.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and pipeline tools (e.g. Jenkins), version control systems (e.g., Git), and agile development methodologies.

Familiar with the Scaled Agile Framework and working knowledge of agile teams and scrum ceremonies.

Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Posted Min Pay Rate: USD $114,693.12/Yr. Posted Max Pay Rate: USD $191,155.20/Yr. Salary Disclosure: Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location, contract affordability, internal equity, education, and certifications.
