We are looking for a motivated and knowledgeable Garden Center Stone Expert to join our team. This is an interdisciplinary position that requires time both inside and outside come rain or shine. Duties change from day to day so we’re looking for a candidate that is outgoing, hardworking, doesn’t mind getting dirty, has stamina, passion for learning new skills, and has some previous experience in the field of hardscapes and/or landscaping. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to helping our customers create beautiful and functional outdoor spaces. This role involves assisting customers with product selection, managing stone inventory, and ensuring the stone yard is organized and well-maintained.

Responsibilities: The Garden Center Stone Expert will be responsible for performing duties related to stone and hardscape sales and yard maintenance. These include but are not limited to:
Daily Tasks:
· Assist customers (both homeowners and contractors) in selecting the right stone products for their landscaping and hardscaping needs, providing expert advice on types, sizes, colors, and applications.
· Listen to customer needs, and providing quotes, and placing special orders if necessary
· Manage and maintain stone inventory, including receiving shipments, organizing stock, and conducting regular inventory checks.
· Ensure the stone yard is clean, safe, and well-organized.
· Load and unload stone products and bulk materials using appropriate equipment (loader, tractor, skid steer)
· Stay informed about the latest trends and products in the landscaping and gardening industry.
· Conduct product demonstrations and provide training for customers and staff as needed.
· Assist in the creation of attractive displays to showcase stone products and enhance the customer shopping experience.
· Operation of cash register, POS system & answering phones.
Skills Required:
- Previous experience in a similar role related to hardscaping, garden center, stone yard, landscaping and sales.
- Knowledge of bluestone and precast concrete materials and their applications
- Understanding of hardscape installations including drainage, irrigation, bulk materials, patios, and retaining walls.
- Ability to lift and move heavy stone product safely
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Ability to run, or willing to learn to run a tractor, loader and skid steer.

Note: This job can be very physically demanding. Stock loading and unloading and organization must be performed regularly in all weather conditions. There is always room for growth in the company, and we are looking for someone to be here for the long term.
Job Type: Full-time, approximately 30-40 hours per week. Weekend availability required.
Pay Rate: Pay rate is flexible based on experience, starting around $20 per hour and is renegotiated after 3 months of employment.
