Oil States is currently looking for qualified candidates for the position of Senior Welder in Houma, Louisiana.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The top level position within the welder job classification that efficiently performs basic, intermediate and advanced set ups and welds to specification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform any necessary grinding and other preparation work, to include set up of work area, machine, hoses, and gas bottles to conform with metal characteristics of the component to be welded.
- Apply type and size weld required according to specifications.
- Inspect weld for defects. Clean for testing.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and keep equipment in good working order. Troubleshoot problems with welding equipment.
- Prepare welds for Non Destructive Testing (NDE)
- Identify welds with ID stamp
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete any required paperwork.
- May assist and/or train junior welders and help other areas of production as needed
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Five years prior experience and the ability to efficiently produce quality work. 6GR certified
- Must successfully complete company administered test of basic welds at 6GR level, to include stick, flux core, and submerged arc
- Basic mathematical skills to include measurement computations
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings and weld symbols.
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow both simple and complex instructions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent bending, standing, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, pushing/pulling, climbing and awkward body positioning.
- Lifting and carrying requirement of 45 pounds
- Subject to heat and cold
