Under the supervision of the Property Clerk III, the Clerk I-Property Clerk is responsible for picking up state property left outside the homes at San Antonio State Supported Living Center (SASSLC). The Clerk I-Property Clerk will assist Property Manager in random inventory and yearly inventory of San Antonio State Supported Living Center property. The Clerk I-Property Clerk will assist individuals and state personnel with moving of belongings from one area to another.
The Clerk I-Property Clerk must have the skills to complete appropriate paperwork for transferring, discarding, and reporting lost and stolen state property. The Clerk I-Property Clerk will keep storage areas organized and clean. The Clerk I-Property Clerk must read, write and perform arithmetic, and organize and schedule self to
fulfill the many aspects of this position. The Clerk I-Property Clerk works harmoniously and productively with co-workers, as well as individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Essential Job Functions:
Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Makes physical rounds of SASSLC campus, picking up state property and determining where property will be housed or discarded.
Identifies, completes, and issues proper paperwork associated with housing and discarding of property.
Transports individuals from one area to another.
Transports personnel from one area to another.
Cleans and organizes storage areas.
Issues and completes paperwork and agency forms.
Assists with spot check (random) inventory of state property.
Assist with annual physical inventory of state property.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Clerk I-Property Clerk must demonstrate:
Ability to take initiative in making daily rounds and picking up state property, while working in a safe manner and maintaining professionalism at all times, and while working with all levels of persons at the San Antonio State Supported Living Center.
Ability to drive state vehicles and operate hand tools safely.
Knowledge, or ability to obtain knowledge, of proper use of a hand held electronic device used for inventory purposes.
Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Must possess valid Texas driver’s license, or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date, is required. Applicants with an out-of-state driver’s license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure. Eligible driving record required based on HHSC Fleet Management policy.
Demonstration of the competencies required by agency approved, standardized training.
Successful completion of defensive driving training is required.
Initial Selection Criteria:
High School diploma or GED required
Warehousing and material moving experience required
Inventory experience is preferred.
Additional Information:
Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/ Entities.
Males between the ages of 18 – 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.
All State Supported Living Center employees are subject to Random drug testing.
Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
