Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner – Outpatient (Fee for Service)
The Brookline Center seeks a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with strong clinical skills to care for adult patients in the outpatient clinic setting. The position includes diagnostic evaluations, urgent care evaluations, as well as short- and long-term psychopharmacology services. This role could include the option to provide psychotherapy, if it is within the provider’s scope of practice. Care is delivered in our outpatient offices in Brookline, MA and well as remotely, using telehealth. All providers at the Brookline Center work in collaboration with colleagues and clinicians in a multi-disciplinary setting.
This is a fee for service position that could be negotiated as part or full time. A benefitted fee for service model is available. Hours and location of work are flexible.

Key responsibilities:
- Diagnostic assessments to evaluate patients' psychiatric and medical needs
- Psychiatric urgent care and intake assessments
- Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications in collaboration with Center physicians who are available for supervision
- Provide psycho-education, counseling, health promotion and preventive services
- Communicate as appropriate with patients’ relatives, collateral contacts, and fellow professionals in the community to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Provide physical health screening and primary health care monitoring (e.g. weight, blood pressure).
- Provide clinical consultation to peers and other health care professionals.
- Provide clear and thorough documentation in accordance with the Center’s policies.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited educational institution is required
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (PMHNP) certification is required
- Hold a valid DEA and MCSR
- Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in good standing
- At least one-year post-degree inpatient and/or outpatient psychiatric nursing experience required
- Strong clinical and communication skills
- Experience with substance abuse treatment is highly desirable
- Experience with severe mental illness (SMI) patients is highly desirable
- Ability to document in an electronic medical record system
- Ability to provide psychiatric care via telehealth
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated commitment to serving in a community setting and working with historically underserved populations
Hours and Location:
The position is based in our outpatient office in Brookline and includes both virtual and in-person services. The position is fee for service and includes one evening until 7/8 PM.
