We are an Outpatient Surgical Center looking for either Full Time or Part Time employees to join our team. This is the ideal setting - Monday - Friday, our hours are 6:00 am - 8:00 pm, with typical shifts starting at 6 am, 6:30 am, 7 a.m. 7:30 a.m. or 8:30 a.m. (8 hour scheduled shifts with late stay assigned on a rotation basis).
Part time is 2 days one week and 3 days the next week or 3 and 3 whichever works better for you and your family. Full Time is 4 days a week. Remember no case Fridays gives the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month off. No mandatory overtime or call. Great team to work with!
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for putting patient charts together including but not limited: gather appropriate forms and documentation; contact the patient to confirm information and review their labs, EKG’s, etc.
- Document on the anesthesia communication sheet any abnormal labs or EKG’s, BMI, cardiac issues.
- Responsible for having charts complete and in order according to the schedule.
- Responsible for getting the patient ready for procedure including but not limited to: reviewing medical history, consent form, obtaining vitals and labs as needed; start IV and administer medications as ordered; assist Anesthesia with nerve block.
- Responsible for stocking bays with supplies and equipment and maintaining the malignant hyperthermia and crash carts.
- Admit patient into PACU.
- Assess and monitor patient’s needs, IV and administer medication as ordered.
- Responsible for maintaining the PACU medication room including narcotic count.
- Continue to assess and monitor patient’s needs, IV and administer medication as ordered.
- Responsible for getting the patient ready for discharge including but not limited to: reviewing discharge instructions; obtain vitals and discontinue IV; contact and coordinate services such as home health care; assist patient when leaving.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate of a Professional School of Nursing.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Two years experience working in an outpatient surgical setting preferred.
- Previous experience in admitting, recovery, ICU, ER Department or related peri-operative area.
- Current certification in Basic Cardiopulmonary Life Support (BCLS).
- ACLS Certification for medical professionals within six months of employment.
- PALS Certification for medical professionals within six months of employment.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with team members as well as surgeons, patients and other customers.
- Requires extensive mobility (walking and standing).
- Frequent lifting and bending, pushing and/or pulling loads.
- Ability to lift up to a 60 pound weight load.
