Interrelated teachers provide special education services to children with disabilities. The major role of the teacher shall be to support the student in the least restrictive environment by collaborating in providing instruction and to provide consultation to the regular education teacher(s).
Additional responsibilities include:
- Assisting in screening, evaluating, recommending, and coordinating special services for students
- Work collaboratively with IEP team members to develop and carry out services for students
- Supervision of paraprofessionals
- Provide services in areas of academics, self-help skills, and behavior
- Write Individualized Education Programs or IEPs for students based on need
- Demonstrate continued professional development, aligned with HPEC goals
We have openings at the elementary, middle, and high school level. We cover 17 school districts in Southwest Kansas.
High Plains Educational Cooperative has a focus on Relationships and Staff. We provide various professional growth opportunities for our staff. Our teachers have low caseloads and a supportive administrative team. We offer a mentoring program to new teachers as well as a variety of locations to work at. Teachers are given a $400 classroom budget each year.
HPEC offers a competitive salary based on education and experience. We offer a student loan forgiveness program for teachers already licensed in special education or up to $10,000 towards a Master's Degree/Endorsement in Special Education.
