HCP061 - Activity Therapist 2
JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, plans, directs, or coordinates therapeutic recreation programs. Activities include sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts & crafts. Conducts assessment of a client’s condition and recommends appropriate recreational activity.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Plans, directs, or coordinates therapeutic recreation programs. Activities include sports, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts & crafts.
- Conducts assessment of youth and recommends appropriate recreational activity.
- Instructs youth in activities and techniques, such as sports, dance, music, art, or relaxation, designed to meet their specific physical or psychological needs.
- Prepares and submits reports and charts to the treatment team that reflects youth’s reactions and evidence of progress or regression.
- Maintains accurate inventories of equipment, tool, and supply usage.
- Ability to confer with treatment team and counselors for group scheduling, staffing, and program planning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a therapeutic recreation or related therapeutic discipline from an accredited college or university AND One year of related experience
- OR One year of experience at the lower level Activity Therapist 1 (HCP060) or position equivalent.
- Note: Some positions may require registration in the area of assignment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess any of the following preferred qualifications:
- 5 years of experience working with high-risk youth.
- Educated in Sound Engineering
- Familiarity with music production
- Knowledge of production equipment
