Village Counseling (www.villageoec.com), located in beautiful and historic Old Ellicott City, is looking for a provisionally or fully licensed counselor (see below) for an in-person position providing mental health counseling to individuals and families in a private practice role.
The successful applicant will have experience working with children and teens (ages 4-17) in a mental health capacity.

Maryland Licensure Requirements
- All candidates must hold current licensure in the state of Maryland.
- The following provisional licensures are acceptable: LGPC, LGMFT, or LMSW.
- The following full licensures are acceptable: LCPC, LCMFT, or LCSW-C.

In-person Specific Requirements
- This opening is primarily for an in-person position working out of our main office in Ellicott City, MD.
- Applicants may work up to 25% remotely, but must maintain at least 75% of their clinical hours in-person.
- For this position, weekday evening hours are required to service the needs of our patient population.
- New hires are expected to provide their own laptop/computer with audio/video capability (i.e., webcam) for use during remote sessions and to complete clinical notes.
- Therapists are expected to be professionally dressed and maintain excellent hygiene at all times, with a minimum of strong scents (cologne, perfume), and engaged at all times during a session.
- A part-time position requires at minimum 17 clinical hours per week. A full-time position requires a minimum of 28 clinical hours per week. Clinical hours are defined as time spent with patients providing mental health counseling.

Major Areas of Responsibility
- Provide high-quality, compassionate, and ethical outpatient mental health therapy to clients as scheduled.
- Complete clinical documentation within 48 hours of the date of service (recommended to be completed daily)
- Actively participate as a positive member of the clinical environment.
- Maintain good standing with the appropriate board and insurance entities.
- Complete all recommended continuing education requirements
- Stay current with updated research and best practices.
- Be aware of community referral sources and refer when necessary.
- Secure client information per HIPAA standards.
- Maintain case files within Electronic Health Record (EHR) that are up to date as described in the Job Expectations handout.
- Perform other duties as assigned (including but not limited to completion of Social Security/Disability forms, authorization and billing forms, phone calls, and participating in case consultation meetings).
Skills and Qualifications
- Must be proficient in mental health diagnosis using the DSM-5-TR. Applicants will be asked to review a short case study (less than 1/4 page) and provide a provisional diagnosis.
- Must meet the licensure and in-person specific requirements listed above.
- Must enjoy connecting and working with patients spanning cultures and individual beliefs
- Positive attitude and work ethic
- Must have experience working with kids and teens, and/or the willingness to have a significant population of kids/teens on their caseload.
