Construction Materials Testing Technician

Our team of skilled professionals excels in performing comprehensive field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of various construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. We understand the critical role that accurate data plays in the success of your project, which is why we meticulously communicate with project stakeholders, including project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractor's representatives, to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements and to deliver precise testing, observation, and inspection results.
Priority will be given to ACI certified individuals.
General Responsibilities:
- Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g., soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel).
- Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor’s representative, and others as applicable regarding project requirements, construction site details, and testing observation and inspection requirements and results.
- Transport material samples, along with associated identifying documentation, to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
- Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observation in the form of written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Project Manager.
- Assist with scheduling and dispatch of Technicians to project sites, as needed.
- Adhere to strict safety standards.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observation duties under close supervision of higher-level technicians or staff professionals.
- Concrete Testing and responsible for getting ACI certified.
- Soil Compaction tests using nuclear density guages.
- Reading construction plans and ensuring that construction is consistent with design drawings.
- Discuss accuracy of data with the Project Manager in preparation for submittal.
- Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Project Manager.
- Receive progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
- Flexible workday - Construction activities can sometimes begin as early as 2 AM.
- Follow safety rules, practices, and other safety requirements for all projects. Conduct pre-task planning before executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards and assigned equipment on all projects.
Compensation:
- $20-21 per hour
- 401K with company (Safe Harbor) match.
- Medical and Dental Insurance (85% of employee medical insurance paid for by employer, 50% of employee dental insurance paid by employer).

Requirements/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds and push a loaded wheelbarrow.
- Pass a drug screen and/or criminal background check
- ACI Certified
- Successfully complete related internal safety certifications.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification:
- Obtain Nuclear Density Gauge certification within 6 months of hire.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
