Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist (fully remote)
The Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist (SARS) will be responsible for analyzing and working complex client AR projects. The Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist will have the experience and drive to work closely with clients, payers, team members and other departments to resolve challenging AR issues and concerns. This position will also provide expert advice and guidance on how to avoid future denials and improve claim resolution rates. The Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist will be expected to maintain levels of quality and productivity exceeding that of an AR Representative position and they will stand out amongst their peers for their initiative and expertise in behavioral health accounts receivable management and resolution.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate expertise in third-party payer billing and reimbursement practices for behavioral health.
- Identify and resolve complex claims issues promptly and efficiently.
- Analyze trends in assigned A/R, driving improvements in cash collections and outstanding balance resolution.
- Communicate with leadership on denial trends and payor projects and recommend solutions for continuous process improvement.
- Verify claims status, contact insurances, and pursue resolution of denials diligently.
- File appeals on denied claims and persistently follow up until resolved.
- Liaise with insurance companies via phone communication, escalating issues as necessary.
- Cultivate relationships with payer representatives to address denial trends and initiate payer projects.
- Provide training and support to other team members on claim denials, issues, and trends.
- Collaborate with other departments to rectify errors disrupting the revenue cycle continuum.
- Navigate payer documentation guides, reconcile accounts, and adhere to detailed procedures efficiently.
Competencies/Behaviors:
- At least three years related experience in revenue cycle management working as a behavioral health accounts receivable representative in a medical office, hospital, call center environment or a third-party billing company.
- Experience in Behavioral Health billing and collections required.
- Knowledge of Commercial Insurance and Government Payor guidelines.
- Understanding of insurance benefits and reimbursement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills to resolve complex payor problems and issues.
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Superior time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft office, billing software, internet)
Education Requirements:
- Three or more years of experience within behavioral healthcare accounts receivable field.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Salary range/ Benefits :
$50,000- $55,000 annually
The compensation scale listed is a general salary range and is not intended to represent the actual annual or hourly compensation rate for this role. An offer will be made to the selected candidate at the conclusion of the interview process based on their relevant experience and the responsibilities of the position.
