MICROBIOLOGY LAB TECHNICIAN
US Cannalytics, a multi-state cannabis testing laboratory with facilities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Michigan, and Florida, is seeking a Microbiology Technician for our Florida location. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and independent testing laboratory serving the medical cannabis industry in Florida. The expected schedule for this role is Tuesday through Saturday, day shift.
The microbiology laboratory technician is responsible and accountable for the testing, quality control, and tracking of cannabis material. The microbiology laboratory technician will ensure the safe, accurate, and timely testing of cannabis products.
QUALIFICATIONS, must:
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Be at least 21 years old
- Must have at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in a natural science, to include, but not be limited to, biology, chemistry, or environmental sciences
- (Preferred) 1 year education or experience with culture based microbiology methods and molecular genetic techniques (qPCR)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Follow policies and procedures for the daily operations and fully comply with state medical marijuana regulations.
- Responsible for the testing, quality control, and tracking of medical cannabis samples for microbiological assays – TAMC, TYMC, BTGN, STEC, Salmonella, Staph, and Aspergillus.
- Responsible for inventory of supplies and cannabis tracking and destruction.
- Responsible for accurate weighing and recording all product weights.
- Adheres to current good documentation practices, cGDP, for the completion of laboratory documents, logs, forms, and worksheets.
- Assist in receiving supplies and following inventory process, including compliant documentation of associated forms and logs.
- Proficiently utilize Microsoft Excel and various laboratory information management systems.
- Participate in and endeavor to complete training and be determined competent for sample collection and sample preparation using aseptic techniques.
- Prepare samples independently using aseptic techniques for test methods which the microbiology laboratory technician has been trained and determined competent, including compliant documentation of associated forms and logs.
- Participate in and endeavor to complete training and be determined competent for plant pathogen and environmental testing of R&D samples.
- Responsible for general lab cleaning including disposal of trash and recycling in designated waste containers as needed.
- Works in a timely manner, strives to improve quality and maintain accuracy.
- Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor, which may include cannabis sampling and transport.
- Follow company SOPs, all rules, regulations, and laws for the transportation of items for medical marijuana testing.

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
