Surgical Technologist Job Summary
Surgical technologist work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive or non-invasive procedures, ensuring that the operating room is safe, equipment is in working order, and that operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
Essential Functions
- Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure
- Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and solutions needed for procedure
- Scrubs, gowns, and gloves to assist in procedure
- Gowns and gloves surgeon
- Helps draping sterile field
- Passes instruments, etc., to surgeon during procedure
- Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure
- Prepares sterile dressings
- Cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization
- Assist other members of team with cleaning of room
- Assist in prepping room for next patient
- Provide some patient care as needed and as directed
- Follow established protocols and procedures
- Work effectively under stress
- Work with minimal supervision
- Act courteously and in a professional manner with patients
- Maintain patient confidentiality and dignity at all times
- Develop and maintain professional working relationship with personnel from all departments
- Work with computerized reporting and scheduling system

Preferred Requirements
- Cath Lab and/or Interventional Radiology experience
- Vascular health experience
Qualifications
- Surgical Technologist experience required. Minimum of 1 year experience
- Certification as Certified Surgical Technologist.
- Current Basic Life Support certification or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to tolerate walking, bending, stretching, and lifting
