Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Patient Account Specialist to join our team. The Patient Account Specialist will be responsible for performing pre and post visit functions related to the Revenue Cycle to include, but not limited to, insurance verification, patient billing, claims follow-up, and collections.
Responsibilities:
- Answering incoming patient calls
- Assist with billing questions across multiple billing systems
- Establish payment plans
- Process credit card transactions & post payments to patient accounts
- Research, request, and post patient refunds for assigned accounts
- Work unpaid claims follow-up for assigned payers
- Manage past due patient balances
- Maintain and update medical records
- Research, analyze & collaborate with coding staff to resolve billing discrepancies
- Utilize knowledge of medical office procedures to support account management
Requirements:
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, and collections
- Proficiency in ICD-10 coding
- Strong understanding of medical office operations
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Allscripts/Veradigm Practice Management
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting while still working as a team
