Responsibilities & Basic Duties include but are not limited to: Triaging patients for provider, which includes obtaining vital signs, medical health history, updating H&P, preparing patients for medical test & examinations, assisting providers during examinations, prepping OR for medical procedures, explaining medical procedures to patients prior and during, sterilizing medical instruments and patient exam rooms between all patients, calling prescriptions into pharmacies and or collaborating with the provider to send in an e-script, administering oral topical and or intramuscular medications, proper blood draws, and recording patient’s reason for visit. Ensures chart readiness prior to patient visit. Completes charting and reviews provider’s orders with patient prior to departure. Answering phones, scheduling appointments and verification of insurance for medications and procedure.
Requirements:
- Proven work experience as a MA, preferred in a OB/GYN/ Pediatric practice setting, but not required. 2 years preferred but not required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Record software. (Athena a plus).
- Knowledgeable of healthcare operations.
- Pays close attention to detail, excellent organizational and multitasking skills, and works well under pressure.
- Requires standing/walking for extended periods of time.
- Excellent communication and written skills.
- Must be able to deal with patients and co-workers in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner.
- Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy certificate is required.
