AWK Consulting Engineers, Inc. (AWK) is s dynamic and growing engineering firm encompassing several engineering disciplines including geotechnical, environmental, permitting, surveying, pavement evaluation and rehabilitation design, structural engineering, and construction inspection and management.
AWK is currently seeking a Geotechnical Driller to be stationed in our Monroeville, PA area office. In this full-time position, the successful candidate’s primary responsibilities are as follows:
Duties & Capabilities include:
- Physically implement and complete geotechnical/environmental investigation programs conducted internally by AWK or by outside Clients, specifically operating the drill rig and other associated equipment in urban, rural and off-road environments. Specific duties include: SPT sampling; rock coring (different diameters); grouting; installations such as observation wells, vibrating-wire piezometers, inclinometers, etc.; working within traffic-control scenarios on local roads to Interstates.
- Working alongside Clients that may include public or private-sector engineers, geologists, geophysicists, and others.
- Conduct all drilling operations safely in accordance with AWK’s safety program and project-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASP) or Waste Management Plans (WMP)
- Attend company safety meetings and conduct daily tailgate meetings.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all equipment and field operations.
- Monitor the performance of all equipment and conduct regular maintenance or repairs on equipment when warranted.
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment, including equipment and jobsite areas.
- Be able to work demanding and variable hours, including regular out of town travel.
- Be able to complete all paperwork imposed by project requirements.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or technical associate degree.
- Have a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or be able to obtain one.
- Have 40-hour HAZWOPER training and updates or be able to obtain.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and written.
- Must be able to safely and routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work safely and efficiently outdoors in all types of weather.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time, 40 hours a week plus overtime as required.
- Must be willing to travel to work sites.
