Position: Adult Day Services Direct Support Professional 1
Summary:
Block Institute is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional 1 to join our team. Under general supervision, the DSP 1 is responsible for assisting in a wide variety of program areas as assigned. In the absence of a DSP 2, the DSP 1 implements program plans under the direction of the Assistant Program Coordinator and provides personal and quality care to the individuals receiving services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Direct Support Professional 1 include, but are not limited to:

Provide physical and programmatic aid to individuals where assigned.

Aid in the daily operation of assigned program areas.

Assist with the supervision of individuals in assigned areas.

Take individuals out into the community on a regular basis and maintain close supervision.

Participate in case conferences if needed.

Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team.

Collect data for written program plans as assigned (e.g., behavior plans, treatment plans, staff action plans).

Provide necessary program support and coverage.

Write case notes and provide information on incidents as required.

Follow established classroom activity schedules.

Assist in maintaining a clean and organized classroom.

Assist with toileting and feeding of individuals receiving services.

Assist with outer clothing of individuals receiving services as needed.

Attend required weekly meetings and/or conferences.

Participate in in-service training programs within the department.
-
Initiate precautions within the established framework to ensure work is completed in a manner free from recognized hazards.

Substitute in other groups as requested.

Perform other job duties as requested.
Qualifications:

High School Diploma required
-
Fully Vaccinated for COVID-19 required
-
Valid NYS Driver’s License is preferred but not required
-
SCIP-R, AMAP, and CPR certifications preferred but not required

One year of related experience preferred but not required
