Job Title: Accounting Assistant
Reports To: Vice-President of Finance
Position Summary:
The Accounting Assistant is responsible for assisting the CFO with accounting activities including a variety of administrative duties and file maintenance.
Qualifications:
Selected applicant will demonstrate and successfully test on ability to complete accounting and administrative skills; prove proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Programs. This position requires the accounting assistant to quickly learn accounting and donor database software. There is a need to be able to perform data extraction and analysis. It is imperative for the chosen applicant to maintain and convey a pleasant manner in person, through written correspondence and while on the telephone. Proficiency with copier, postage meter and other office equipment is required. This person must be flexible with the ability to work comfortably with diverse groups of people. Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize work and proven ability to work as part of a team, strong time management skills; strong knowledge of business English, grammar and spelling are expected and required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prioritize, manage and complete the tasks given within the time frame specified with close attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proactively support the Vice-President of Finance’s activities and workflow.
- Log required data, accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare, compile, sort, and process documents for data entry.
- Assist with all financial reports as needed by VPF.
- Complete monthly tasks with minimal supervision.
- Filing.
- Additional projects and duties as needed and when assigned.
Education and Work Experience:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- Experience in accounting and general accounting knowledge.
- Experience with verbal and written, and face-to-face, communication within the financial realm of a business.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong computer skills in MS Suite and MS Office, SharePoint and OneDrive
- Cordial and engaging public-facing persona
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Good reasoning abilities, ability to independently make decisions using sound judgment and humility to ask questions without prejudice.
- Ability to work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Dependable attendance and punctuality are required for a person to be successful in this role.
Job Type: Part-Time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

- 8 hour shift, except in case of special events and emergencies, since Second Harvest of South Georgia is a first-responding agency and will meet the needs of our community, state and region.
- Day shift
- Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am - 2:30 pm
