We are seeking a paralegal to join our team and provide support to attorneys in the preparation and filing of petitions and applications with federal government agencies. Subject to the supervision of the attorney(s) responsible for the matter, Paralegals may assist in such tasks as: preparing routine correspondence, researching immigration law, procedures, and case management. Paralegals also play a significant role in gathering information from a diverse clientele and assisting with immigration strategies. Salary is negotiable upon experience.
Responsibilities:
- Collect information and documentation from clients
- Prepare draft filings to relevant federal and state agencies
- Conduct research of immigration law and procedures
- Prepare draft correspondence and memorandum
- Enter case information into web-based case management system
- Track the status of filings and inform the client of any follow up that may be necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Two years of paralegal experience preparing and filing all types of immigrant applications preferred but not required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but applicants with some college or equivalent experience are welcome
- Proficiency in the Spanish language is preferred
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Capacity to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on ability to work with a team
- Ability to organize, multitask, prioritize and work under pressure
- Familiarity with immigration based software is helpful
- Maintain a professional appearance
