The Hilton Garden Inn Southfield is seeking talented, creative and highly self-motivated Line Cooks for both our PM and AM Shifts. The Hilton Garden Inn Southfield is a select service hotel with 194 guestrooms, just over 5600 square feet of meeting space as well as our Garden Grille & Bar restaurant.
Our Line Cooks report directly to the Executive Chef and will work closely with the hotel’s food & beverage team.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards all in a timely manner.
· Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs.
· Date all food containers and rotate as per Hilton standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
· Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up. Note any out-of stock items or possible shortages. Assist in keeping buffet stocked.
· Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables..
· Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill.
· Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
· Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
· 2-3 years of experience
· Must be able to speak, read, and understand the English language
· Requires good communication skills and the ability to foster effective relationships with all levels of staff, management and clientele.
· Excellent organization skills and ability to multi-task and successfully manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Requires standing for long periods of time as well as being able to lift at least 100 lbs
· Requires grasping, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
· High School Graduate, GED or work equivalent
· Must be able to work weekends and holidays
