Darigold is seeking a motivated Warehouse Manager to be a part of Darigold’s Sunnyside team. Primary function is to create and facilitate the continuous improvement of the Darigold Plant’s supply chain processes, systems, competencies, and infrastructure in a manner that enables Plant employees to achieve the strategic objectives of the company, division, and the plant in a customer satisfying and profitable fashion. The Warehouse Manager responsibility is for the continuous improvement of Plant performance and cost-effective operations in the areas of supply receiving, warehousing, purchasing, production planning, finished goods load-out and transportation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
- Prepares an annual (fiscal year) Operating Expense Budget for the warehouse
- Determines, with input of appropriate departmental staff, specific needs for fiscal year operating expenditures, and requests funding appropriations necessary to make improvements or to maintain viability of fixed assets.
- Sets up measures to understand warehouse performance opportunities and manages change in the systems, processes, infrastructure, and employee competencies to posture the organization to take advantage of those opportunities.
- Supports Darigold Performance System to improve employee engagement and performance.
- Assumes total responsibility and accountability for profitability and internal controls for the departments.
- Reviews monthly operating budget and key performance measures and makes changes necessary to improve performance on a continuous basis.
- Ensure that proper internal control procedures are followed and that accurate inventories are maintained. Coordinate deliveries or pick-ups of materials.
- Oversees Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and compliance regarding their departments and employee adherence to regulations.
- Work with DPS Safety Pillar Team to eliminate any unsafe conditions and creates an environment that promotes safe behaviors.
- Works with Human Resources Department on Employment Law requirements and Labor Relations issues.
- Hires new employees according to company policy.
- Establishes schedules that lead to low cost and that meets our customer needs.
- Work with Human Resources to address employee performance and disciplinary issues.
- Provide leadership and supervision for the assigned production shift and associated personnel. Effectively motivate, train and communicate with their assigned shift teams to assure superior levels of safety, reliability, sanitation, and quality. Insure individual and team levels of performance meet or exceed goals and expectations.
- Prepare and conduct team meetings as necessary for proper communications and development of teams. Have the ability to work with the Engineering and Quality Assurance staff to create a cooperative environment on their assigned shift.
- Ensure paperwork is correct.
- Conduct cycle counts.
- Reinforce sense of. Effectively communicate issues to management team.
- Needs flexibility to work variable hours and weekends.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to effectively lead organization and personnel and utilize staff in accomplishing bottom line focused objectives to improve operations and achieve and maintain customer satisfaction.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Able to develop and manage the execution of strategic plans, budgets, employees.
- Able to develop personnel competencies and provide clear and concise understanding of objectives for the organization.
- Ability to handle conflict and display excellent diplomacy skills in handling situations, which can be disruptive to the organization’s business environment.
Education, Experience and Certifications:
- Minimum 3 years in a management position in a manufacturing facility.
- A Business or B.S. Degree preferred.
- Team player and good communication skills.
- MS Word and Excel skill preferred.
