Position Summary
The role of Senior Contract Legal Counsel is made for an attorney with an employment law and/or litigation background who has approximately 5-10 years of experience and is licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. Your role will be to support Prime's legal team and by providing well-reasoned legal advice to stakeholders and defending Prime in litigation and other adversarial proceedings, especially employment-related disputes before government agencies and in court/arbitration proceedings.
This is a contract/temporary position designed to provide temporary coverage for Prime's in-house legal department during May-August 2024. The majority of work will be performed at Prime's Service Center located in Sugar Land, Texas, with some opportunities to work remotely as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research using various resources and provide relevant legal analysis.
- Drafting Legal Documents: Prepare legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, motions, and other legal correspondence.
- Case Preparation: Gather and organize evidence, documents, and other relevant information for ongoing and upcoming cases.
- Litigation Engagement: Serve and respond to written discovery and participate in depositions, conferences, and hearings.
- Legal Analysis: Analyze legal issues and provide well-reasoned opinions and strategic considerations to Prime's in-house counsel and stakeholders.
- Document Review: Review and analyze documents related to litigation, contracts, and other legal matters for relevance and significance.
- Compliance and Due Diligence: Assist with compliance matters, due diligence reviews, and regulatory filings.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other members of the legal department to ensure effective teamwork and efficiency in the legal process.
- Support In-house Counsel: Assist Prime's in-house counsel in various tasks as required, such as preparing for negotiations, settlements, and mediations, as well as supervising outside counsel.
- Ethical Standards: Uphold the highest ethical standards in all aspects of legal practice and maintain client confidentiality.
- Adaptability: Be flexible and adaptable in handling various legal matters and taking on new challenges as they arise.
Requirements:
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with employment law and civil procedure, including pretrial litigation
- Experience dealing with discovery, including depositions and motions practice
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Ability to take direction and work as a team player
Education and Other Qualifications
- D. degree and licensure in at least one U.S. jurisdiction required
- Litigation experience strongly preferred
- 5+ years attorney experience preferred
- Experience representing/advising retail industry and/or clients operating in multiple jurisdictions preferred
