Job Summary:
The Compounding Pharmacist is responsible for preparing and dispensing both sterile and non-sterile medications, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role involves meticulous attention to detail, expertise in aseptic techniques, and proficiency in compounding practices to deliver safe and effective medications.
Key Responsibilities:
Compounding:
- Prepare sterile and non-sterile medications, including IV solutions, injections, creams, and oral suspensions.
- Adhere to USP <795>, <797>, and <800> guidelines for compounding and safety.
- Maintain sterile environment protocols and equipment.
Quality and Compliance:
- Conduct quality control checks and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Implement and monitor SOPs for compounding and documentation.
- Perform sterility and stability testing as needed.
Clinical Support and Patient Care:
- Advise healthcare providers on compounded medication options and administration.
- Educate patients on the proper use of compounded medications.
- Participate in patient care planning meetings.
Inventory and Resource Management:
- Manage inventory for compounding materials and supplies.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of all compounds.
- Optimize resource use to minimize waste.
Training and Development:
- Train pharmacy staff and interns in compounding techniques.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in compounding.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
- Active state pharmacy license.
Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience in sterile and non-sterile compounding, preferred.
- Familiarity with USP <795>, <797>, and <800> guidelines.
Certifications:
- Certification in Sterile Compounding preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
