Position Opening for a Behavior Analyst
We have an immediate opening for a full-time Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join our team at Garden Academy. Garden Academy is a non-profit private school for children with developmental disabilities located in West Orange, New Jersey. You can learn more about Garden Academy on our website: www.gardenacademy.org. We provide comprehensive behavioral education services and caregiver training based on principles of behavior analysis. We offer a full-day, year-round program with a 1-to-1 staff ratio. Garden Academy serves 36 students with developmental disabilities between the ages of 4- to 21-years old. We are seeking a classroom supervisor for one of our classrooms. Interested candidates should send their resume, a letter of interest, and three references (names and contact information). Primary Responsibilities
Program Development and Monitoring
- Conducts comprehensive skills assessments for the purposes of program development (e.g., Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program, Assessment of Functional Living Skills)
- Conducts functional behavioral assessments and designs and implements behavioral interventions to address behavioral excesses, as necessary
- Develops comprehensive, school-based services that address the needs of the students
- Collaborates with the instructors, certified teacher, Clinical Director to review and monitor student progress and learning
Staff Training and Supervision
- Trains classroom staff to implement behavior support plans and skill acquisition procedures using behavioral skills training
- Provides ongoing, high-quality feedback, coaching, and mentoring to the classroom staff
- Actively participates in school staff meetings, joint staff meetings, staff development days, pre-service training, in-service training, and other training opportunities
- Assists the Executive Director and Clinical Director to design staff training opportunities during professional development days
- When needed, monitors and supervises their classroom staff on the task list for BCBAs, as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
- When appropriate and needed, monitors and supervises teachers working toward their standard certificate of children with disabilities
- Professionally accepts ongoing review and feedback from supervisors
- Maintains positive and productive communication with co-workers
Caregiver Education and Training
- Assures that assigned family or families receive individualized training sessions up to four times per month
- Assures that appropriate and measurable goals are established for caregiver training
- Participates in the development of data collection systems and teaching strategies for caregiver training
- Assures regular data summary and data analysis on assigned parent goals and recommends changes in programming, as needed
- Attends and participates in caregiver training sessions for the purposes of instructor training, as needed
Personal Professional Development
- Develops a plan for their professional development activities in the areas of behavioral assessment and treatment, staff and caregiver training, conducting clinically relevant research, and other topics, in consultation with the Clinical Director
- Participates in professional development activities which may include but are not limited to attending professional conferences, presenting research at conferences, holding reading groups and workshops with staff and students, developing and implementing staff training modules, conducting clinically relevant research, disseminating research results through publication in peer-reviewed journals
Ethical Standards
- Performs all assigned program activities in a manner compatible with program policy, standards set forth by regulating agencies and in a manner consistent with the professional standards in the field
- Participates in ensuring that informed consent has been obtained for all relevant instruction and treatment activities for assigned students
- Maintains confidentiality about students’ instruction and treatment goals and progress; protects students’ anonymity
- Participates in assuring that assigned children receive effective, individualized intervention services
- Maintains professional relationships and a professional interaction style with colleagues, program personnel, students and their representatives, and members of the community-at-large; protects and extends the reputation of the program
Education and Experience Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis or a related field
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certificate is required
- Minimum of three years of clinical experience providing services to children with developmental disabilities
- Experience working with families and conducting parent training using behavioral skills training
- Familiarity and experience with the verbal behavior approach, discrete-trial training, naturalistic language strategies, and behavioral skills training
- Experience conducting experimental functional analysis, preference assessments, and reinforcer assessments
- Developing and monitoring comprehensive skills programs and behavior support plans
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
