Summary of Job Description
The Manager - Contracts will report to the Executive Director, Corporate Counsel and provide general legal support to the Legal Department and various related business teams relating to a breadth of complex legal and compliance topics specific to a fast-paced biotechnology. The Manager – Contracts will closely collaborate with members of the Legal and Finance functions and various colleagues across the organization to effectively build, maintain and streamline internal processes and provide paralegal type services across the company.
This position is based in our Woburn office and welcomes hybrid work! Local candidates are expected to be on-site 2 days per week.

This is a dynamic and important role in the legal function of a high-growth biotech company as we rapidly progress toward a first potential commercial product launch. The successful candidate of the Manager - Contracts position, will report to the Executive Director, Corporate Counsel and will provide company wide support on all contracting and related matters.
Key Factors for Success
Vendor Contracting Support

Provide support to Legal Department with the vendor contract review process and maintain tracker of the same.

Serve as the main point of contact for contract review requests from business stakeholders across the organization and the finance department.

Manage the queue of pending contract review requests and provide regular updates of vendor contract deadlines, auto-renewals and projected expirations to Legal Department and relevant business stakeholders.

Maintain and update a library of standard documents, contract clauses, and templates relevant to the vendor contract process.

Assist other members of the legal team as needed, with the review and negotiation of vendor contracts.

Coordinate communication with business stakeholders, e.g., members of the Commercial, Compliance, IT, Finance, Medical and Regulatory Affairs teams.

Maintain and expand the functionality of the vendor contract database management system.

Assist with other department needs such as onboarding new vendors, assisting employees in all aspects of the contracting process, collaborate with colleagues in Finance, assist in special legal and other projects as they arise from time to time.
Licensing

Provide support to Legal Department in securing and maintaining state pharmacy board licenses, including completing annual reports to the states.
General Legal and Compliance Support

Independently perform analysis of legal and compliance related issues and propose solutions that foster a collaborative working environment.
Qualifications:
Experience & Education
-
Bachelor's Degree and/or relevant legal education (Paralegal Certificate or time-in-role).

Notary Public.

5+ years of legal experience, in-house corporate experience is preferred, law firm experience will be considered.
- Significant experience with a contract management or database systems.

Familiarity with biopharmaceutical/life science industry is preferred.

Strong preference will be given to candidates with contract management and drafting experience in a healthcare, pharmaceutical, and/or law firm setting who possess an understanding of commercial transactions and legal issues relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
