SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Monterey County Health Department, Clinic Services Bureau is seeking to fill Clinic Nurse Practitioner positions.
The Clinic Services Bureau
operates ten clinics
and provides care to the medically underserved population in Monterey County. The mission of the Bureau is to provide quality primary medical care services for all residents of Monterey County regardless of the ability to pay and assures that high quality services are provided at the lowest possible cost. Monterey County Health Department clinics are located in Salinas, Seaside and Marina and provide family practice, women's health, internal medicine, pediatric, behavioral health, and specialty services.
The Clinic Nurse Practitioner will provide primary care services in an ambulatory outpatient clinic setting. Incumbent will perform comprehensive medical assessment of patients and establish medical diagnosis for patients, both independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. Clinic Nurse Practitioner may indirectly supervise Medical Assistants, and address action items according to medical standards and clinic policies and procedures.
As of April 11, 2024, Health Department may offer up to $10,000 signing bonus to candidates hired into regular full-time positions for this classification from this recruitment hired after April 11, 2024 - Exam Plan 22/52A97/09RUT.
The Eligible List established by this recruitment process may be used to fill current and future vacancies on a regular full-time, part-time, or temporary basis.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Pursuant to Section 2835 of the Business and Professions Code hold a valid and active California license as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner and possess training, experience and certification as set forth in the health system’s Practice Prerogative’s to practice in fields of Family and Adult Medicine, OB-GYN, Pediatrics, and other primary care services as may be determined by the Clinics.

Pursuant to Business and Professions Code Section 2836 must possess a “furnishing number to furnish drugs and/or devices.”

Pursuant to Business and Professions Code Section 2831.1 must possess a valid DEA number and certificate.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION
Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish is desirable for this position. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates must complete and receive a passing score on the bilingual oral and written exam upon hire in order to receive the bilingual pay stipend.

Possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license or the ability to provide suitable transportation that is approved by the appointing authority.

Be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and during times of disaster and/or emergency.

COVID-19:
On July 30, 2021 the County of Monterey Board of Supervisors took action to mandate COVID-19 vaccination for all employees to include new hires.
