Summary: The Environmental Services Tech is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the facility and grounds.
Qualifications:
- Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain courteous relationships with clients, families, supervisors and visitors of the facility
- Must be free of a criminal background that is a Disqualifying Offense as defined by the Illinois Department of Public Health
- Must have basic knowledge of building maintenance and the ability to use hand and power tools
- Willingness to uphold company safety standards
Essential Duties:
- Performs a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of the facility and grounds including: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, painting, etc.
- Maintains the grounds in a clean and orderly manner including mowing, trimming, weeding, replacing plants as needed, shoveling snow, salting icy walkways, etc.
- Perform troubleshooting and repairs for items/structures such as: floors, showers, sinks, plumbing, walls, roof, locks, doors & door closures, cabinets, desks, closets, hinges, heating system, air conditioning units, appliances, furniture, drinking fountains, furniture, washroom fixtures, dietary equipment, etc. Inform supervisor when additional supplies are needed to finish a task or repair.
- Remove trash from facility premise with assistance of Waste Removal Company.
- Moves furniture or other large items as needed or by request of the management.
- May be required to assist with laundry or housekeeping when necessary.
- Identifying projects requiring the skill of outside vendors.
- Operates a variety of tools, including power tools in order to complete various tasks.
- May be required to adjust time on automatic lighting system.
- Assist supervisor in performing tasks such as fire drills, generator testing and checklists.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
Lifting Requirements: Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Requirements Essential To Perform The Job: stand; sit; walk; use hands/fingers to handle or feel; climb (stairs/ladders); balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk/hear; see; taste/smell; pushing or pulling; reaching; repetitive motion; tolerance of hot and cold outdoor temperatures.
