PROGRESSIVE MEDICAL ASSOCIATES is a small, independent Internal Medicine practice in Huntersville, NC founded in 2004. Our practice has a family oriented atmosphere where employees come to stay. CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT: Full-Time (Mon-Fri) 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for completion of patient intake including basic medical/surgical histories, vital signs, performing of EKGs, spirometry tests and injections, maintenance of examination rooms and updating patient information in EMR platform
- Assist in the completion of the patient visit by preparing the patient both in clinic and virtually, reviewing/completing patient questionnaires in conjunction with the patient, or other tasks as applicable
- Assist physician and nurse practitioner in exam rooms, as needed
- Perform nursing procedures under supervision of physician or nurse practitioner
- Provide patient education, as instructed by physician or nurse practitioner
- Assist providers in obtaining outside facility medical records for the purpose of resolving gaps in care
- Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintenance of instruments and sterilization as required. Removes any expired items; notifies office manager if any equipment is in need of repair
- Maintain work queues, faxes and in-basket or email management. Provide routine office support including filing, copying, and mailing, faxing and delivering documents
- Communicate laboratory and test results to patients and ensures all related reports, labs and information are filed in patients’ EMR
- Review telephone messages and appropriately respond or triage patient/physician/pharmacy inquiries
- Assist in management and documentation of vaccine inventory
- Responsible for the collection of specimens, basic phlebotomy panels and electrocardiograms, as requested by provider
- Authorize prescription refills, as directed and obtain prior authorizations, as needed
- Assist with medical supply ordering and inventory management, as appropriate
- Functions well as part of the team with other medical assistant(s) and employs positive communication skills in relation to patient and provider needs
- Participates in staff meetings and all assigned training
- Participates in quality improvement activities
- Other duties, as assigned by providers or practice manager
