We are looking for Elementary Reading Teacher for our 3rd-5th grade to join our faculty for the 2024-2025 school year.
Sunrise Academy is an independent, non-sectarian PK-12th-grade private school. Our K-12 program enrollment is growing for the new school year, and we envision strong growth in the following years.
We are seeking energetic, motivated individuals who are willing to be a part of our growth. Future compensation increases depend upon performance.
Work Hours
- Monday-Thursday from 7:15 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., and Friday 7:15 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Compensation
- Exact salary within range ($33,500-$40,000) based on candidate's exact qualification(s) such as degree(s) held, degree(s) held within related field, certification(s), and years of teaching experience.

Eligibility Requirements*:
You must have one of the following:
- A bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field with FL Teaching Certification, & 3+ years of teaching experience or;
- A bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field with Statement of Status of Eligibility & 3+ years of teaching experience or;
- A bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field
And;
- You must be able to pass a Florida and Federal Criminal Records (Level II) Background Check.
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student;
- Maintains a level of professionalism expected of a teacher;
- Must be compassionate, patient, and used to working with young children;
- Uses a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.;
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction;
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom;
- Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports;
- Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students' progress and interpret the school program;
- Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems;
- Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers;
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by professional growth activities;
- Participates cooperatively with the Head of School, Executive Director, and the Assistant Principal;
- Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records;
- Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day;
- Administers tests by school standards;
- Participates in curriculum development programs as required;
