CalWest client school in the Greater Los Angeles area seeks a Part-Time Middle School Health Education Teacher to begin in August 2024.
Qualifications
- Possess, at minimum, a B.A. in Human Development, Health Education, or Social Work (or related field). Masters degrees in Health Education or Social Work (or related field) are preferred.
- 1-3 years of teaching experience at the secondary level (middle school preferred).
- Possess confidence in their disciplinary and pedagogical expertise while remaining committed to professional growth and innovation in both these areas.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess a high degree of interest in supporting the developmental needs of young women, including experience with and enthusiasm for positive identity development and diversity, equity, and inclusion work.
Responsibilities
- Teach Middle School Health classes
- Teach Methodologies for Personal and Academic Success lessons
- Collaborate with the Health Education Department and Education and Counseling Services Department
- Contribute to social and emotional learning programming and curriculum development as needed
- Adhere to the school's academic policies, guidelines, and expectations
- Plan, prepare, and deliver academically sophisticated and pedagogically engaging lessons for the appropriate developmental level and course designation
- Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, student services, deans, and other administrators
