Purchasing expeditor supports supply chain activities by ensuring prompt delivery of materials by communicating with vendors on the status of all orders and by eliminating difficulties and delays. They report directly to a Purchasing Supervisor supporting the efforts to maintain adequate inventory levels of purchased parts and material. The expeditor also participates in vendor relationship management and identifies cost-saving opportunities to support their company’s profitability goals. The Expeditor will work closely with the purchasing agents and planning team to determine part availability based on shipping priority.
1. Key Duties:
a. Collaborate with Project Managers, Planning, Purchasing, and Manufacturing as necessary to fill all communication gaps regarding part availability.
b. Maintains records of goods that been ordered and corresponding shipping dates
c. Utilize Global Shop to track part availability, demand, and shipments.
d. Confirms shipping dates with vendors
e. Monitors shipping notices to avoid potential problems with deliveries
f. Reports major shipping problems to purchasing agent and collaborates with engineering, production, quality, vendors and other departments regarding problem resolution
g. Assigns tracers to shipments to identify delay once order is transit.
h. Maintains business relationships with suppliers to ensure their assistance in an unexpected event requires expedited shipping of an order
i. Attend Manufacturing and Quality meetings
2. Key Responsibilities:
a. The Expeditors primary responsibility is ensuring prompt delivery of materials and services by communicating with vendors of the status of orders and minimizing delays.
b. Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures.
c. Will maintain a high level of regard for all established processes and instructions when executing job tasks.
d. Support warehouse material receivers in resolving discrepancies on PO’s.
e. Physically assists in locating “lost” items in receiving dock or warehouse.
3. Key Qualifications:
a. High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
b. Has worked in a Manufacturing setting previously
c. Strong sense of self-motivation and ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
d. Excellent computer skills.
e. Proficient with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
f. Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
g. Proficient people skills.
h. Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, organizational and time-management skills.
i. Ability to comply with company policies and procedures
