Building Engineer

Building Engineer applies engineering principles and techniques to optimize the facility in a manufacturing environment to meet organizational objectives. His/her works include ensuring proper installations, renovations and maintenance of facilities to minimize production delay
Inspecting and maintaining: Inspecting and performing preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment
Responding to emergencies: Responding to emergency maintenance requests
Performing repairs: Performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks
Monitoring equipment: Monitoring building equipment
Preparing reports: Preparing reports and documents related to building maintenance and repairs
Ensuring safety: Ensuring that the building meets all safety and health regulations
Coordinating with contractors: Coordinating with outside vendors and contractors for maintenance and repair services
Identifying causes of failure: Identifying causes of structural and/or building-related failure
Providing solutions: Providing tangible solutions for repair/restoration of the subject failure
Assessing building enclosures: Assessing building enclosures for failure, deficiency, and performance
Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish difficult assignments and provide innovative solutions.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High school diploma or GED
4 years experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC trade including rooftop units
Knowledge of maintenance and operation of building automation, water treatment and fire life safety systems
Good interpersonal and a positive team attitude
Familiarity with computers and operations and office automation applications, including Microsoft Office
Utilize CMMS systems such as Corrigo for all work performed
Strong customer service orientation
Ability to work independently as well as a strong team player
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Other duties and tasks assigned from time to time
The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Be able to visually inspect machinery and buildings.
Ability to frequently walk up and down stairs for inspections and emergency procedure • practice or implementation.
Ability to climb ladders up or be on scissor lifts up to 40 feet
Ability to detect emergency alarms - auditory and/or visual.
Equipment inspections require getting on hands and knees to reach areas difficult to access
