Job Title: Assistant Controller
Location: Rosemont, IL - Hybrid
Job Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to join our Consumer Products Division. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting the Controller in managing the division's financial activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial operations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the Consumer Products Division, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and inventory accounting.
- Help prepare and analyze financial reports, including monthly financial statements, variance analysis, and management reports.
- Research technical accounting topics within the scope of US GAAP.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities for the division.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the development, implementation and adherence of accounting policies specific to the Consumer Products Division.
- Lead the month-end close process including, but not limited to, reviewing of reconciliations, month-end journal entries and close checklists, preparation of corporate supplementals, in addition to participating in monthly financial reviews.
- Help develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure integrity in financial reporting.
- Ownership of the North America Retail Backoffice day to day accounting activities, including the month-end close process
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, operations, and supply chain, to support divisional objectives and initiatives.
- Mentor and provide guidance to accounting staff, fostering their professional development and growth.
- Stay updated on accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends, and implement best practices within the division.
- Assist in ad hoc financial projects and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in consumer products or retail industries preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
