What you'll do as a Consultant Pharmacist:

Provide general supervision of the facility's procedures for the control and accountability of all drugs, intravenous solutions, biologics and supplies and ensure that the facility's policies and procedures pertaining to pharmacy are in compliance with applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations.

Review the records for receipt and disposition of controlled drugs and the maintenance of such records in sufficient detail so as to allow an accurate reconciliation.

Utilize clinical knowledge to analyze medication profiles, laboratory results, H&P, physician and nursing progress notes to provide Medication Regimen Review (MRR) and chart review as mandated by federal regulation. The MRR process involves ensuring the residents current medication profile is optimized to manage disease states while minimize possible side effects. Medication orders are evaluated for appropriateness of therapy, dose, and monitoring.

Ensure that inspections are conducted of each nursing station, its related drug storage area, and resident health records, and that findings are documented.

Provide written reports to the facility regarding the status of pharmaceutical services and staff performance. Participate in appropriate facility committee meetings.

Assist in the development of, and/or conduct programs for in-service education on subjects related to the pharmaceutical services rendered.

Perform all other responsibilities required of a pharmacy consultant as set forth by applicable local, state or federal laws and regulations.

Provide outstanding customer service to client nursing staff, residents, administrators, physicians, and other healthcare professional.
What we need:
-
Bachelors or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.

Current unencumbered license as a Registered Pharmacist in the pharmacy's state of practice.

Previous experience in long-term care or hospital pharmacy preferred.

IV experience preferred. If no experience in IV preparation/dispensing, must be able to learn and demonstrate competency.

Must have valid state drivers license and be willing to drive to assigned facilities.

Familiarity with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services State Operations Manual guidelines.

Excellent math, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills required.

May be needed to staff in the pharmacy up to one weekend per month and up to 3 holidays per year.
