SUMMARY:
Conducts high complexity molecular tests in the treatment and diagnosis of genetic diseases
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs clinical testing in compliance with CAP, NY, CLIA regulations
- Troubleshoots assay performance
- Operates and maintains the laboratory equipment, maintains the lab following 5S standards
- Performs QC and informs manager/supervisor immediately if systems deviate from the laboratory’s established specification
- Maintains laboratory stock levels and restocking supplies
- Trains new employees as needed
- Performs other duties as required
- Adheres to the Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics’ Compliance Program
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Molecular Genetics Technologist I
Degree: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or medical technology
Relevant experience: 0-2 years
Certification (preferred): MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)
Molecular Genetics Technologist II
Degree: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or medical technology
Relevant experience: 2-4 years
Certification (required): MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)
OR
Degree: Master’s degree in a scientific discipline or medical technology
Relevant experience: 0-2 years
Certification (required): MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)
Molecular Genetics Technologist III
Degree: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or medical technology
Relevant experience: 4-6 years
Certification (required): MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)
OR
Degree: Master’s degree in a scientific discipline or medical technology
Relevant experience: 2-4 years
Certification (required): MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)
OR
Degree: PhD in a scientific discipline or medical technology
Relevant experience: 0-2 years
Certification (required): MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)
