Mid Iowa Grian Inspection, INC. is a small business in AGRICULTURE in Elwood, IL. We are fast-paced, supportive and our goal is to Mid Iowa Grain Inspection is responsible for sampling and testing various grains using FGIS/USDA approved sampling methods and grading procedures. We have locations in Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota.

We are looking for Applicants to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for sampling and testing various grains using FGIS/USDA approved sampling methods and grading procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to observe, climb, work at heights, receive and obtain information required to deliver grain services effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Collecting official samples from predominate site carriers using official methods.
- Climb ladders, stairs, and walk on top of Barges.
- Dividing grain samples
- Measuring test weight and moisture content of grain
- Produce official records.
- Perform all other technician functions for testing.
- Perform additional general labor duties as assigned.
- The function of the Technician position is primarily indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
In the first month of employment, you will be licensed as a Grain Technician 1.
After obtaining a Tech 1 license you will then be trained in-house for a Grain Technician 2 license, which will result in a wage increase. With the Tech 2 license you will have opportunities to work at our off-site Barge and Train locations. Our train location has monthly bonus incentives to be paid out monthly. Wage increase for licenses will be based on ambition for your future and skill levels.
After obtaining a Tech 2 license you will then be able to train in-house for a Grain Inspectors license which will result in a $2.00 an hour wage increase.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid and current Driver's License
- Basic Language and Math Skills
- Must be 18 years old.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Able to observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources, including carrier identification, mechanical sampling, and other information required to deliver grain services.
- Able to climb ladders, stairs, working at heights, able to walk on top of barges, and able to work around water,
- Must be able to identify, maintain, and properly use equipment.
- Work in dusty an environment.
- Work Flexible hours.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, and Excel is preferred.
Management will provide study material and adequate training for positions with Mid Iowa Grain Inspection.
Attendance and reliability will be mandatory.
