Purpose
As part of the division of Undergraduate Education (UE), this position supports the Director for Operations in the day-to-day management of financial operations for units and programs that report to the Associate Dean. Work associated with this position includes budget and account administration, goal setting, financial reporting and analysis, and ensuring a strong system of internal controls and risk management. This position supports programs reporting to the Associate Dean through account administration and guidance. It may perform various activities as part of monthly and year-end close.
Responsibilities
Review and approve financial transactions using various university systems such as UT Mainframe (DEFINE, UT Direct, FRMS) and Workday. This includes but is not limited to handling contracts, procurement, payments, and travel expenses.
Act as the point of contact for financial matters within UE and oversee tasks related to OHS and DocuSign. Will also serve as a delegate for Electronic Office Management.
Facilitate budget creation and adjustments; ensure that funds are transferred accurately between university accounts.
Act as a resource on financial policies and procedures, ensuring that our expenditures align with university policies and Division priorities. This may include collaborating with and providing guidance or training to programmatic staff.
Monitor account balances, expenditures, and encumbrances while reconciling accounts to maintain accurate financial records.
Analyze financial performance and recommend strategies to support our financial goals.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and university policies. Make recommendations to streamline internal processes and provide greater transparency and risk reduction.
Other duties as assigned, including supporting special projects and staffing events within CNS.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting, including expertise in planning, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Demonstrated critical thinking, research, problem-solving, and task management skills.
Strong organizational and analytical abilities, with keen attention to detail, resourcefulness, proactivity, and the capacity to handle multiple priorities and perspectives effectively while exercising sound judgment.
Ability to work independently and in teams.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to accurately convey financial information clearly and concisely.
Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and presenting financial data.
A demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment, showing compassion, integrity, and a commitment to service excellence. Skill in handling sensitive information with diplomacy and tact.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly working with complex Excel spreadsheets and managing large datasets.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
More than five years experience in budgeting, accounting, and reporting. Familiarity with federal grant management.
Demonstrated proficiency in gathering, analyzing, and presenting financial data and making recommendations.
Knowledge of UT's systems and applications, including the UT Mainframe accounting system *DEFINE. Experience with BUD, UT Direct/FRMS, Point Plus, and Workday ERP.
Knowledge of the University's procurement, payment, vouchering, and audit processes, as well as familiarity with its resources, policies and business systems.
Experience with the University budget process, accounting system, and financial reports.
Proficient with electronic application systems and comfortable learning new technology.
Experience conducting financial training to develop the financial acumen of organizational staff.
Salary Range
$60,000+ depending on qualifications
Working Conditions

Standard office conditions, including the repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

Periodic work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required occasionally for special projects and events.

Standard work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
