Meridian Precast Inc is a small, but established and reputable subcontracting firm, located in West Los
Angeles, specializing in the Supply & Installation of a wide variety of architectural & decorative building products. The type of products we supply & install include but is not limited to: Precast Concrete, GFRC, Cast Stone, Fiberglass (FRP), Natural Stones, Manufactured Stones and Fiber-Reinforced Cementitious Panels. The projects we supply and install these various materials on consists of hotels, condominiums, public works facilities, office buildings, retail centers, educational and civic buildings, religious facilities, casinos, infrastructure and transportation facilities, and specialty use buildings such as sports arenas. Our clients are primarily large scale and leading general contracting and architectural firms.
About the Position:
We have an immediate opening for a very tenacious, accurate and aggressive Estimator/Project Engineer to join our team. The position primarily consists of doing quantitative take-offs and bidding of large scale construction projects. Candidate should have at least 5 years experience in the commercial construction industry and strong knowledge of reading and interpreting plans and specs. Position has responsibility for coordination of all quantitative takeoff activities on assigned projects.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Reviewing construction plans, specs and documents, using on-screen take-off software or similar, to identify and find the materials applicable to our scope of work and determine any special labor requirements.
Analyze plans and specifications and perform detailed and accurate quantity take-offs. (You MUST have an uncanny ability to come up with THE MOST accurate estimates/take-offs from blueprints)
Prepare, review, manage and submit RFI’s, Addendums, Notifications and communicate with clients during bid process.
Assemble accurate and well organized estimates and proposals in a timely manner for jobs that you are assigned to bid.
Doing Follow-ups, Meet Bidding Deadlines and Pursue projects until are awarded.
Effectively manage daily work output, meet bid deadlines, and work in a fast paced environment.
Attend/lead bid walks and respond to RFP’s.
Produce complete estimates and other proposal documentation.
Develop relationships with owners, developers, architects and industry professionals
Performing internet searches and material sourcing.
Perform plan comparisons for identification of any changes.
Identify, Prepare and Submission of Change Orders.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Engineering background or minimum 5 years of experience in commercial construction work.
Candidate MUST have good communication skills, good to excellent computer knowledge and have exceptional organization skills.
Ability to follow instructions is a must.
Must be fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook).
Excellent math skills.
Strong prioritization skills and work ethic.
Detail-oriented and strong problem solving skills and ability to recognize discrepancies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent experience with on-screen take-off software or similar.
Have complete knowledge and understanding of architectural & structural drawings and specifications.
Candidate must have a good memory and reading comprehension.
Candidate should be dependable.
AutoCAD or Drafting skill highly desirable.
Must be able to multi-task and prioritize effectively.

Salary:
Salary ranges anywhere from $60,000 to $90,000/year depending on your experience + Commission on projects awarded. The commission earnings may end up exceeding the salary. If you have tenacity and follow through capabilities, then we will guarantee that you will make a lot of money on commission. The full plan will be explained and demonstrated during job interview.
