Job Summary: Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Automation Controls Technician ensures proper operation of casting equipment using automation interfaced with PLC based equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Understands that s/he is responsible for his/her own safety, as well as others working in the area.
- Provides first response on-floor manufacturing support.
- Communicates with Robotics Safety SPA to ensure a safe workplace.
- Assist in startup of new automated cell installations.
- Identify opportunities to improve uptime and reduce costs.
- General duties will include:
- Caster PLC programming and troubleshooting, caster robot, MU Robot support and troubleshooting, MU Machine Vision support, MU Cell and Casting Cell changeover.
- HMI programming and troubleshooting
- PLC integration to axillary devices, such as Cameras, Safety scanners, Etc.
- PLC Ladder logic programming to support equipment.
- Coordinate with IT for production / PLC network communications
- Observes and practices all applicable lockout/tagout requirements during all activities.
- Observes equipment for malfunction and makes adjustments or repairs as needed to allow equipment to operate at maximum efficiency, within operating parameters, safely and correctly.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be self-motivated with an ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot.
- Must be able to read and understand work instructions.
- Ability to communicate with all levels within plant.
- Must possess mechanical, electrical and computer aptitude.
- Basic computer skills including Word, Excel & email.

Education and Experience:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic understanding of casting operations is required.
- Basic PLC programming and troubleshooting required.
- Prior robotic or maintenance experience is required.
Work Environment:
· The job works in conditions with constant exposure to noise, odors, dust, drafts and chemicals.
· May include seasonally hot and humid conditions for extended periods of time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Hourly full-time position 40 hours per week with overtime or weekend hours as needed to support production.
