The Treatment RN is responsible for the provision of skilled nursing care and assessment. Coordinates care with physicians, other providers, and ancillary staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures the safe administration of IV fluids and other medications in compliance with physicians orders.
- Conducts nursing assessments that evaluate physical and emotional status of patients and coordinates appropriate care and follow-up.
- Ensures patient and family understand the management of the disease process and the actions and side effects of the medications received.
- Accepts director from RN to ensure quality care.
- Ensures the proper documentation of care delivered to include completion of accurate billing.
- Obtain vital signs, height and weight for clinic patients and places patient in clinic exam room.
- Performs venipuncture as ordered.
- Responsible for properly labeling all blood samples and submitting to lab.
- Cleans and maintains exam rooms with the appropriate level of supplies and maintains a clean and safe work area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Current LVN license issued by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. Preferred 1 3 years of oncology or IV/infusion experience.
Ability to communicate well with physicians, staff, and patients. Good phlebotomy, venous access, organizational and time management skills required. Basic computer knowledge is also necessary.
