Job Description:
Function 1: Performs experiments using custom fabricated microfluidic devices at the local MRSEC facility followed by loading cells in the device and imaging them for extended periods of time. Will make yeast strains with particular genes tagged with fluorescent proteins for easy visualization, will calibrate the instrument to ensure that cellular behaviors can be visualized with high signal to noise, ultimately perform experiments that will enable real-time visualization of epigenetic adaptation. 75%
Function 2: Oversees common lab tasks 10%
Function 3: Image analysis 15%
Job Requirements:
MA/MS degree plus 1-3 years experience or BS/BA plus 3-5 years experience.
The ideal candidate would have expertise in some of the functions we are seeking. Since the position is short term, alignment with our needs is very important. This includes expertise in microfabrication of highly complex micron-scale devices, in handling microscopes and in developing sophisticated image analysis pipelines.
