A private company has opening(s) for a Qualified Developmental Disabilities Professional (QDDP). We care for individuals with moderate to profound developmental disabilities. The Qualified Developmental Disability Professional (QDDP) is the professional responsible for the total active treatment provided. He/she obtains, coordinates and monitors all professional and paraprofessional services related to the developmental needs of each resident and the treatment plan devised to meet these needs. He/she is responsible for advocating for the residents in obtaining appropriate services and in protecting their individual rights as necessary. The QDDP works under the direction of the Program Director.
A typical day for a Qualified Developmental Disability Professional includes:
Person-Centered Planning and Individual Support Planning:
- Actively participating in the person-centered planning process, including development and implementation of Person-Centered Plans (PCPs) and Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
- Designing and implementing support and teaching strategies targeted at assisting clients with reaching their outcomes, as outlined in the client’s ISP.
- Providing supervision and training to Direct Support Professionals regarding the implementation of the PCP, ISP and teaching strategies.
- Evaluating and revising support and teaching strategies, as necessary, to ensure progress toward achievement of outcomes and action steps.
Quality Assurance:
- Reviewing all forms, notifying the Case Manager of any incidents, and providing oversight for the follow-up plan with staff.
- Maintaining communication with family members, guardians, staff, and Case Managers on a regular basis, particularly regarding policies, issues, and concerns.
Supervision/Training:
- Coordinating in-service trainings that are needed to assist staff in fulfilling responsibilities related to client-directed support.
- Providing direct support by providing services needed to protect the health and safety of the client, especially in a staffing crisis.
- Performing on-site evaluations for all field staff.
Other job functions:
- Client record-related maintenance and compliance.
- Coordinating client benefits including Medicaid, Medicare, SSI, SSA, and Food Stamps.
- Securing community resources for clients.
- Assisting the Director with teaching training classes and with on-site investigations for worker injury and client feedback.
- Demonstrate genuine care and concern for the individuals;
- Maintain an orderly work environment and perform tasks in prescribed and safe manner;
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during performance of job duties;
- Maintain and improve professional skills and knowledge;
- Understand and apply established principles, techniques and procedures required for effective job performance;
- Learn methods and procedures to be followed in assigned program area;
- Understand and carry out both oral and written instructions in an independent manner;
- Communicate effectively and tactfully in both oral and written forms;
- Be flexible and receptive to change;
- Adapt to periodic heavy work load;
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform a combination of standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and sitting for up to 8 hours
- Ability to bend at the waist to a minimum of 45°
- Ability to twist at the waist to a minimum 90°
- Ability to squat to knee level
- Ability to raise one’s self, unaided, from one knee to a standing position
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds unaided
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds aided
- Ability to maneuver individuals served from supine, sitting, reclining, etc. position to lift, wheelchair, bed, bath, etc.
- Ability to push individual served (up to 200 lbs.) in wheelchair
- Ability to function in outside environment for up to eight hours
- Ability to enter and exit vehicles and assist individuals served to do same
In order to be eligible for this role, you should have:
- A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services or a related field
- A valid driver's license and active auto insurance
- Access to a fully-insured and reliable vehicle
- Supervisory experience preferred
Qualified Developmental Disability Professionals must comply with state background screening requirements..
