POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the DON, Registered Nurses work closely with the Medical Director, and other multidisciplinary team members to identify, assess and respond to a wide range of physical, psychological and social needs of the patient.
Essential Duties:
- Assess patients and documents pertinent information including triage, behavioral health, physical health and/or substance abuse issues.
- Provides support and participates during crisis intervention with ability to de-escalate potentially aggressive situations and intervenes with appropriate interventions, to ensure the patient’s safety and the safety of others.
- Transcribes Medical Provider orders and administers prescribed medications.
- Performs chart checks and signs off on noted medications.
- Participates in the planning of patient treatment as part of the multidisciplinary clinical team.
- Draws labs and provides wound care as medically required or ordered.
- Assist as requested to provide education to patients, and team regarding behavioral health diagnosis, medications, and treatments
- Maintains and completes all training requirements, and certifications as required by position to be in compliance.
- Attends and participates in regularly scheduled meetings and provides information to improve the quality of services or to resolve issues.
- Assist with maintaining and ensuring the cleanliness of the assigned unit and all other common areas utilized by the patients.
- Other responsibilities as may be assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
- New Mexico Registered Nurse (RN) license or ability to obtain license.
- Experience providing inpatient behavioral health care.
- Must have current CPR, Level I NM Fingerprint Clearance, and able to pass required clearances, and background checks.
- Must be flexible to adjust to the needs of a fast-paced environment, demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, and display proficient oral/written communication skills
- Must be able and willing to work selected available shift including weekends, and holidays.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, write, and document as required for patient medical charts, patient case notes, incident reports, and data into Electronic Health Record.
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients and team members.
- Reasoning ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Computer Skills:
Must be able to use a computer, read a computer monitor or notebook screen. as required to enter data into Electronic Health Records and to enter data into a time and attendance system required for payroll processing. Knowledge of MS Office and email software is required.
