Position Summary
To fit and weld components by prescribed methods as required by customer’s blueprints and specifications. Must be able to meet quality requirements set forth by AWS D1.1 or greater. Provide instruction and guidance for the development of welder trainees and less skilled welders.
Welder/Fabricator Responsibilities:
- Perform a full range of journey level, complex skilled welding and fabricating duties; to fabricate and repair industrial equipment; and to perform other technical maintenance duties.
- Service, repair, and clean shop equipment and tools. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
- Review blue prints and job specifications with supervisor. Set up welder current, amperage, and gas flows to the prescribed settings for material being welded.
- Check dimensions and tolerances after welding and cooling. Use industries standard methods to straighten, ream, and debur as required
- Provide technical direction and support to welder trainees.
- Work overtime as workload dictates.
- Operate a variety of welding and fabricating equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Good Communication skills: ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications; and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Team player with positive attitude and focus on quality, efficiency and safety.
· Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Welder/Fabricator Qualifications:
- Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in welding and fabrication.
- Knowledge of OSHA rules, codes and regulations; and occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
- Basic fit-up and layout skills required
- Basic blue print reading skills a must
- Safely operate associated hand and power tools such as saws, grinders, measuring tools, etc.
- Mechanical aptitude with proficient shop math skills.
- Drug free with excellent record of attendance and punctuality.
- Current Washington State Driver’s License
- Two years shop experience.
