Part-Time Front Desk Attendant

Eligibility, compensation, and more

This position has a starting pay between $10.31 and $12.89 based on experience.
This position can work up to 1,000 per calendar year.
We are looking to add to our days/nights and weekend team! Hours are a combination of the following (prefer someone with Sunday availability):
1:00pm-5:30pm (weekdays)
5:30pm-9:00pm (weekdays)
8 am-5 pm (Saturday)
12:30pm-5:00pm (Sunday)
Most shifts are 4-6 hours in length.
We are looking for someone who can consistently work 12-16 per week.
The city pays $25/month non-longevity pay for each month that you work in a calendar year. This payment is made in a lump sum in November.
Raises are typically given on October 1st.

Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of customer service, office work, and facility cleaning. This position is primarily responsible for meeting customer needs, answering the phone, greeting walk-ins, turning on fitness equipment, folding laundry, processing payments, and sharing program and facility information.

Essential Functions:

Provide excellent customer service through effective and professional communication with external customers about the Link, its memberships, programs, events, amenities, and policy and procedures and be able to follow and enforce them with consistency and tact.
Facilitates membership enrollments, program registration and rental reservation with efficiency using the Link’s operational software; accurately manages customer transactions while adhering to all cash handling policies and procedures; including counting change, reconciliation of drawer and balancing at the end of the day.
Assist with maintaining a clean and safe recreation center facility. While janitorial work is not the specific job duty of any particular employee, each member of the staff is expected to assist in the cleanliness and safety of the Link and its internal and external amenities.
Assist management staff with room set-up and clean-up, including table and chairs stacking and un-stacking; during events and rentals, attendants will provide on-going communication with the renter to ensure expectations are met.
Serve customers in a polite and enthusiastic manner, and manages any conflict or misunderstanding. Serving customers and citizens includes welcoming individuals, learning members’ names, answering the phone promptly, collecting and handing out equipment, responding to or providing assistance for questions or concerns.
Maintains integrity, professionalism, values and goals of the city by assuring that all rules and regulations are followed and that accountability and public trust are preserved.
Cooperates with co-workers professionally to accomplish work efficiently and effectively.

Ability to:

Operate computer, software and other general office equipment
Be helpful to all manner of individuals despite interactions or disagreeable situations
Handle stressful, negative interactions with the public requiring high levels of tact and diplomacy
Effectively respond to aggressive interpersonal interactions
Make decisions with regard to appropriate policies and procedures to follow within a given situation
Accomplish assignments with limited supervision
Work as part of a team, assisting others with a variety of job tasks
Follow verbal and written instructions and procedures
Clear a post-offer physical, drug test, criminal background and other appropriate testing and requirements.
Ability to learn quickly and keep up with the speed of service demands
Establish and maintain effective relationships with department coworkers
Demonstrate intrinsic motivation, high ethical and moral standards
Work a variety of hours including some weekends and holidays, maintaining regular, reliable attendance
